How it works
A sacrificial layer for the paint
TPU film sits on the clear coat and takes the stone chips, swirls and car-wash marks that would otherwise scar the paint. A self-healing top coat flows back over light scratches with warmth, so the film looks unchanged while the paint underneath stays untouched.
It is not armour. A hard impact still dents the panel; the film's job is the day-to-day abuse — grit from the tyres,brush marks, the ring of a carelessly placed cup. That is what actually ages a car's appearance, and it is what the film is built for.
Selection
Thickness, finish and coverage
6–8 mil is the usual range; a thicker film takes more but is stiffer to wrap at edges. Gloss and matte are finish choices, not performance grades — pick by the look the buyer wants, not by a number.
Coverage is the other decision: a front-end pack (bumper, hood, mirrors, leading edges) or a full wrap. Front-end is the value buy because that is where the car actually gets hit. Full coverage is for buyers who want the whole car protected, and it is a bigger job to fit and to quote.
Installation
Wet-applied and computer-cut
Supplied on rolls, slit to the pattern, wet-applied and wrapped at the edges. Edge lift after a poor wrap is the most common comeback, so the wrap quality matters more than the mil on the datasheet.
On complex bumpers with deep contours, the film has to be worked slowly and post-heated to settle. A shop that rushes this is the one whose jobs come back — which is why we ask what market you sell into before recommending a grade.
Export packing
How a roll reaches the shop
Boxed, on cores, palletised for sea freight. Private-label cartons and inserts are available on OEM runs — tell us the vehicle mix and we will say which thickness conforms to the panels you actually see.
Limits
Where this film is the wrong answer
PPF protects paint; it does not make a panel dent-proof, and it is not a substitute for paint correction underneath. A film laid over swirls locks the swirls in.

PPF or a ceramic coating — which?
Film takes physical impact; a coating resists chemical etching and makes washing easier. They are not the same product, and a buyer who wants both buys both. Selling one as the other is how warranty arguments start.
How long does it last?
Rated by the film, not by the road. Tell us the market and we quote the grade whose warranty matches the claim you want to make, rather than a number that will not survive the climate.
What does self-healing actually mean?
Light marks from washing flow back with heat or sunlight. A deep gouge does not heal — that is exactly what the film is there to stop. The distinction is the whole product.
How is it packed for export?
Rolls boxed, palletised, strapped; cartons carry your brand on private-label runs. Say the destination and we build the packing to it.
